Bambusa vulgaris Wamin
(Dwarf Buddha Belly Bamboo)
Bambusa vulgaris Wamin, common name: Dwarf Buddha Belly Bamboo, is one of the more interesting bamboos because of its swollen internodes which look like a small round belly. The swelling is better achieved if the plant is left in a pot where it's under a bit of growing stress. This also enables you to bring it in during cold winter nights if you live in a marginal area. Maximum height: 16 ft. Maximum culm diameter: 3" Minimum temperature: 29°F Minimum USDA hardiness zone 9B Most often used as a specimen plant because of its interesting appearance. Looks great beside a pond or in an Asian style garden.
